The mistake a lot of people make on earth is that they think they can get continual happiness from money, sex, family, being married, friends, career, vacation, drinking, food, hobbies. The list goes on. Know today that you will not get continual or lasting happiness from that list. It is good to have all of the above. For example, it is good to have money. We all want to have money, and have a lot of it. But without God, all of those sources of happiness, including money, will still leave you empty.

You see, when God created us, He wanted to be a part of us, and so there is a vacuum in every human being which only God can fill. Not enough money can fill that vacuum, not enough alcohol can fill the vacuum, not enough anything can fill the vacuum. That's why people who have a lot of money without God still feel empty. It is true that each one of that list above can give you a slice of happiness at the time you experience them, but such happiness does not last.

Now, you may know of people who claim to know God but are not happy. Folks, it is one thing to know everything about God, it is another thing to have personal relationship with Him. Here, we are talking about having personal relationship with God.

The list above and more other sources of happiness are icing on the cake. The sweet cake has to be there before you start adding the extra, which is the icing. Personal relationship with God is the cake. When you have the cake, then you can add the extra sources of happiness, which is the icing.

So, to get continual happiness, you will have to get it from one source, and one source only, and that is God.
